How Does HIV Spread?
HIV is transmitted through contact with certain body fluids of an infected person, including:
Unprotected sexual contact
Sharing contaminated needles or syringes
Transfusion of infected blood or blood products
From mother to child during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding
HIV does not spread through casual contact such as hugging, shaking hands, sharing food, or mosquito bites.
